With Tom’s Inspiration,
We Are Fighting Lung Cancer
The Tom Zangas Memorial Lung Cancer Foundation was started in 2011 by Leonard and Penelope Zangas to honor the memory of their son, Tom, who died at the age of 40 after a valiant fight against lung cancer. Since its formation, the Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to support lung cancer research at leading medical research institutions.
From the time our son Tom was first diagnosed with lung cancer through this courageous effort to defeat the disease, we had the love and support of many people and saw firsthand the dedication and talents of many wonderful, caring doctors and nurses as they sought to prolong Tom’s life.
This support and commitment helped Tom and our family during the two years of his illness.
We saw the need to raise funds so the doctors and researchers could continue their work to one day find a cure so other families would not have to experience what our family did. We wanted to thank those who supported us– friends, family and the medical community — and thought the best route would be to create the Tom Zangas Memorial Lung Cancer Foundation to honor Tom’s memory and help advance cancer research.
On this website you can read about the research the Foundation and its generous donors has supported and the important strides that have been made to learn more about lung cancer.
On behalf of Tom and the many doctors and nurses who treated him, we ask that you join us and support the important research the Foundation is funding.
